One, Two, Three The older we get, the more milestones we have to look back on. So the farther and faster they appear to recede. So if sometimes the clock may seem to have stopped, the calendar always continues racing ahead.Philip Yaffe, Why Does Time Go Faster As We Get Older? My. Oh. My. Three years it’s been. Over the weekend, we celebrated Keimei’s third birthday! On Saturday, we went over to visit the folks in Ebetsu since Jiji & Baba prepared a cake and lunch for everyone. Keimei received a pretty cool gift from Baba — an RC car. It was his first time playing with one, so naturally he got a kick out of that! The next day on Sunday, Keimei’s actual birthday, Kosato prepared a chicken (one that was sent to us from Okinawa) and a homemade cake. Nothing beats her cooking, that’s a fact. We also invited over our two of our good friends, whom we frequently invite to come to our house, and go out on trips with 🙂 Fun times! Recently, Keimei watched his first Hayao Miyazaki film on TV maybe a couple months ago and has since been quite engulfed in it (since we recorded it). Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, in case you’ve never heard of it, it’s this epic fantasy adventure that takes place in a post-apocalyptic war zone, and there’s this this conflict between humans and giant insect creatures. Yeah. Anyways, the point I’m getting to is I figured since Keimei really enjoyed that film, I thought I’d show him another classic, My Neighbor Totoro. And we let him watch that later in the evening, and sure enough, he was way into it 🙂 Finally, at the end of the night, as per tradition, we ‘celebrated’ setusbun. Kosato took an interesting video of that, but that’s one for the books!
Past Year Review: 2018 Edition I have a New Year’s resolution to give up on New Year’s resolutions. I realized that I make decisions to do or not do things on a daily basis, therefore January 1st should no longer imply that it’s a significant day to make new decisions. From this point onward, ‘past year reviews’ it is! Continue reading “Past Year Review: 2018 Edition”

Moving Forward One year ago from today I achieved something great — a success that would allow me the freedom to make up for lost time, space, money, and even joy. And although I’m proud of all the blood, sweat, and tears I put in to getting where I am today, my struggle is not over. It has never been, and it never will be. Continue reading “Moving Forward”
Live Construction Ahead! It’s about time my site gets a much needed appearance overhaul. I’ve been wanting to do this for quite a while now actually. The idea has been sitting on the back burner of things, but just never got around to it. Continue reading “Live Construction Ahead!”

Brown Rice Diet: Apparently It’s A Thing I don’t usually do diets, but on a rather spontaneous decision, the other day I decided I’d try this brown rice diet my wife maybe half-jokingly suggest we try. I was intrigued because on the pamphlet she showed me, the catchline went somewhere along the lines of the following: What!? Lose 5KG in 10 days!?Continue reading “Brown Rice Diet: Apparently It’s A Thing”
