If you had the opportunity to live a nomadic life, traveling from place to place, would you do it? Do you need a home base? What makes a place “home” to you?

If the only person I had to take care of in my life was myself, I would love to have the chance to travel the world nomadically. It was always a kind of pipe dream of mine to maybe do so one day. The feeling of adventure and epic traveling, visiting foreign and unseen lands, meeting new people and experiencing new things—it’s definitely a dream.

Living. Loving. Learning. I believe that’s what life is all about. What better way to do those things than to explore the world?

Home. The definition of “home” can vary from person to person. It could be a place of birth. It could be a place where a person grew up. It could be a specific location where a person might have sentimental feeling. It could even be a place where someone feels accepted by its local community.

For me, as cliche as it sounds, home is where my heart lies. And my heart lies with my wife and my now one-and-a-half-year-old son in the bustling urban city of Sapporo, located on the northernmost island of Japan in Hokkaido.

I’ve actually grown a great fondness of Sapporo, despite its half-year-long winters. So I don’t really see a separation of my family and the city—both are one as my “home”. Our home.

This is part of an effort to improve as a writer and to get myself writing more. So as not to focus so much on perfection and formatting, when responding to these prompts, I use more of a stream-of-conscious style of writing. One of my goals is to become faster at getting my ideas out of my head and onto a physical platform, while keeping in mind to gradually build up my skill at doing so in a more fluid and concise manner.
