From a famous writer or celebrity, to a WordPress.com blogger or someone close to you — who would you like to be your biographer? Hands down, Christopher Nolan! Let’s first start off by noting that I’ve seen all the movies he’s famously known for and loved them all—Memento, The Dark Knight Trilogy, The Prestige, Inception, Interstellar. (I’ve just realized I still need to watch Insomnia. Netflix night it is.) “Every film should have its own world, a logic and feel to it that expands beyond the exact image that the audience is seeing.” —Christopher Nolan The one thing I love about Nolan’s style of writing and directing is that he creates worlds of immersion. All his movies have elements of deep and immersive experiences that no other director has been able to emulate. His characters have depth, meaning and complexity that he lets the audience explore through his cinematic visions—it’s all just completely remarkable. I’ve watched his Dark Knight Trilogy COUNTLESS times. Because it’s that amazing. And maybe it’s also just because I’m a Batman fan. But whether you create another mindf*cking conundrum tale like Inception or an epic saga about enforcing vigilante justice like in The Dark Knight, I bestow my life story with you Christopher. This is part of an effort to improve as a writer and to get myself writing more. So as not to focus so much on perfection and formatting, when responding to these prompts, I use more of a stream-of-conscious style of writing. One of my goals is to become faster at getting my ideas out of my head and onto a physical platform, while keeping in mind to gradually build up my skill at doing so in a more fluid and concise manner.
